IOS 9 ibooks audiobook stops playing when screen is powered down

I had this problem on on iPhone but not another one. I guessed it might not be being allowed and 'background refresh' time. iBooks and Music don't appear on the allow background app refresh in the settings, I guess they are supposed to always get it. But with the new battery low power options another setting can turn off background app refresh. So, I opened iBooks, then settings -> general -> Background App Refresh, and switched it off and on again, switching to iBooks and back each time I changed a setting, then I went to settings-> battery and turned the low power mode on and off again doing the same swapping so iBooks gets a chance to see the changes. Then went back to iBooks and tried to power off the screen, and it is working again. I don't really know what step did it, so try them all in different orders and swapping back and forth to iBooks while you do it. Other than that a phone reset might be the only other solution. It looks like a bug to me, but at least I can listen to books without the scene being on all the time and while running other apps again.

Had the same issue, performed a hard reset and solved the issue.

Hold down Power button and Home button until phone screen goes black and apple icon shows on screen, then let go of both buttons, hope this helps. Worked for me.
