Q: ios9 update -> now touchscreen problems

Ever since I updated to ios 9, my iphone 5s touchscreen is acting crazy.  The accuracy of where I touch or slide vs. what the iphone thinks I did is completely off.  The phone seems to have a mind of its own too, it starts opening apps and stuff when I'm not even touching it.  Then other times it freezes completely for 5-10 minutes.  It is nearly impossible to shut it off because it won't swipe when I initiate the turn off screen.  The home button works fine.  Every once in a while the phone will act normal for like 15 minutes and then it goes crazy again!!  Anyone else??  This just started a couple days ago after I did the ios 9 update.

    I have a 6 and am currently expieriencing my 4th coma, all 1 to 3 days. Multiple trips to 'Genius Bar' with no permanent fixes. Could it be battery?

    Maybe ... Some iPods & iPhones, touch sensitivity just fails. Happened to mine. Had to fork over $150 for a replacement iPod. Yes I know this is cheaper, but I wasn't too happy about that. Some product errors just fall through their inspectors grating.

    yes there are a bunch of us, who have had iPhone, or iPod touch, touch problems, that only get progressively worse. I'm not 100% sure if it's the IOS 9 update, or not, but before I update my device again, I will see if anyone has problems. Some have been able to get replacement devices at Apple Stores. Worth a shot ...

    I'm having the same problem.  It renders my phone completely useless.  I haven't gone into Apple yet because I know that will just be a waste of my time, energy, and I'll just get the same old run around - you're phone is out of warranty, we're Apple and we don't care, here's how much a new one is.  It's really a shame, Apple used to be this company built on innovation, customer service, and customer experience - now they're just crap.  They know it.  We know it.  Congratulations Apple.  How many new phones did you sell due to your customers updating their phone to IOS 9?  Good business practice - profits before all! Yay Apple!  It's a disgrace.

    I am having the same problem on iPhone 5s, iOS 9.3.3 (still). The problem now seems to appear only when using the Facebook Messenger app or Instagram. With irregular frequency, after a short time touch will go crazy and it will be impossible to finish typing any messages that I am currently typing (wrong letters would be typed or nothing at all). Usually the issue is resolved by locking and unlocking my iPhone.

    Though it's nice that other touch problems have SEEMINGLY disappeared, the iPhone is still very much useless. Looking forward to the next update with hopes that such VERY basic functionality will finally be restored (after about two or three months of the iPhone being useless). I used to be proud of having an iPhone because of it's very smooth functioning with no bugs at all, no lag and no other problems. Now I feel ashamed really.

    iOS 9.3.4. iPhone 5s, the issue still persists. The iPhone is still useless.

    I'm sorry this isn't a solution, but take it to an apple store, as soon as you can. Some people have gotten replacements. Try more then one store if they won't help you. Unfortunately there was only one apple store within driving distance for me, and the best they could offer me was a new device at a lower cost. They know that something has gone wacky wt some devices, and instead of fessing up to it, there playing dumb. When I mentioned that others in Apple Support Communities also have problems, they replied, "well people who are have problems, always complain online." What does that mean? Well to me it means, that I most likely won't be buying another apple device. The percentage of those wt touch problems is small, and a company as large as apple, can certainly afford to replace a few bad models. Apple has changed a whole lot, since there beginning. Unfortunately not for the better.

    My iPhone 6 has this problem as well. Except I'm running iOS 10 beta and it started when I installed iOS 10 beta. I still have this problem even though they've come out with updated versions of the beta...

    I had an issue with this and the apple store gave me a brand new phone. The EXACT same thing is now happening to this new one that I got last week. A hard reset did not fix the problem and now it stops working so often for a long period of time that I can barely use the phone. I'm getting very frustrated!
