Q: ios9 update -> now touchscreen problems

Ever since I updated to ios 9, my iphone 5s touchscreen is acting crazy.  The accuracy of where I touch or slide vs. what the iphone thinks I did is completely off.  The phone seems to have a mind of its own too, it starts opening apps and stuff when I'm not even touching it.  Then other times it freezes completely for 5-10 minutes.  It is nearly impossible to shut it off because it won't swipe when I initiate the turn off screen.  The home button works fine.  Every once in a while the phone will act normal for like 15 minutes and then it goes crazy again!!  Anyone else??  This just started a couple days ago after I did the ios 9 update.

    Does this happen for anyone with the new iPhone 6s?  I am wondering if it is related to software changes related to 3D touch?

    Hello... I have an iPhone 6+ with iOS 9.0.2. Ever since upgrading to iOS 9, I've been having problems with my touch screen going dead. It's gotten worse since I updated to 9.0.2. I've tried resetting my phone using the power & home buttons more times than I can count & each time that hasn't worked.

    I've tried doing the factory reset twice & that hasn't worked either. It's progressively getting worse to the point where my touch screen is inoperable for up to 1-2 hours at a time.

    During the last 3 days, the touch screen goes dead for 9-10 times a day however today is the worse. It's already gone dead 10 times & it's only 2:27PM ET.

    I tried calling Apple Care today but the lady just scheduled an appt at a Genius Bar for Monday Oct 12th.

    It seems like this issue is affecting phones that don't have the new 3D touch....

    OK, my screen is officially dead... Tried yet another reset via the Restore iPhone feature in iTunes at the advice of Apple Care rep & as I suspected... Nothing.

    My issue might be a little different from everyone else's problem though. An hour after I posted, I began having problems with a white bar appearing in various widths on the upper third of my screen.

    Now I'll have to wait for my Genius Bar appt Monday Oct 12th... Jeez that's a long time away...

    Update pt III.

    I called Verizon & found I'm still under the 1 year warranty & since I have their protection plan also, I got it over nighted via  Fed Ex. Can't believe Verizon beat the pants off Apple in the customer service I got.

    Good luck to everyone & their touch screen issues.

    I have been having the same exact issues. It's funny that so many of us are experiencing the same thing & when calling Apple Support and making appointments with the Genius Bar they seem totally clueless as to what is happening. Apple told me that they would have to charge me 269 dollars to replace my 5s, which is absurd considering this is obviously an update issue.

    I've had to get a loaner phone from my carrier because in order to use my phone I would have to hard reset almost every time I try and use it. Absolutely ridiculous Apple!

    Same problem... iPhone 5 running iOS 9.0.2. 2 Times already I want to pick up my phone and I can't slide the screen to unlock it.

    It's not responsive at all. All the background apps are working though. I get mail notifications, I receive calls (which I can't answer......).

    Only way out of this is "hold the home button + power for ~10 seconds" so it reboots. Definitely a software bug.

    Ever since iOS 9 I'm starting to really hate my phone... I mean look at the "music app" or the new default "podcast layout".

    After you've spent like 10 minutes finding where the shuffle button is.. .

    Apple is making me feel always concerned when updating a new iOS. This is terrible for business, you know?

    same issues, sometimes touch won't respond as accurately as before, especially when mult touching. Looks like the system will priorize one touch over the other because of milliseconds of difference, leading to weird user experience.

    using ipad Air 2.

    I have an 5s running 9.0.2 & so far this is what I have tried since my last post & none of if has worked for me, maybe someone else will have luck.

    • Soft Rest
    • Factory Reset (Through iPhone & iTunes 3-4 times)
    • Configured phone as new.
    • Turned Siri off.
    • Downloaded & installed the 9.0.1 Beta

    The only thing that actually does work for me is putting my phone to sleep, as soon as I wake it up again it works for about 3 minutes & then it's like I'm playing with a Oujia board.

    Next i'm going to see if I can downgrade back to a 8.0 version and see if that helps. Until this issue is resolved I've been banished to the pits of Android ****, so thanks a lot Apple. QQ
