Oct 12, 2015 10:58 AM in response to Scarlett Stormbornby Schroederius2,Here are my updates:
+ jumpmantnb, I already have autolock set to Never (I always lock manually), and I still do have the problem. I'm constantly locking my phone, though, so maybe it's the locking _process_ that's involved? I haven't seen that this is related to my phone being locked, so I haven't taken the drastic step of removing my passkey.
+ Scarlett, thanks for sharing your process. Because of what you've experienced, I'm not doing a factory reset on my phone to try to solve the problem - if it didn't work for you, I don't see a reason for me to go through the pain and frustration of doing it myself.
+ I had a Genius Bar appointment on Saturday. Chris in Seattle looked at my phone, and could find no evidence of misbehavior, after running all diagnostics and checking briefly in the logs. He insisted that, if there were posts in the communities, Apple engineers would be on the case. I asked if there were any mechanism where he could escalate his issue to Cupertino or something, and he said there wasn't, but not to worry. As far as I can tell, if the Genius Bar guys don't see anything wrong, there's no reason to believe that anyone anywhere is actually looking at this until/unless someone tells us otherwise. And there's no handoff between the people who are receiving reports of the problem and the people who in theory might fix it. Apple, if there's ANYONE paying ANY attention to this, it sure would be nice for you to assure us that there isn't a massive black hole in the communications chain. BTW, Chris did say that there was nothing wrong with my phone's hardware, and suggested a factory reset might fix the problem, and that, even if it didn't fix the problem for someone else, maybe it would fix it for me, it was worth a try.
+ I talked with someone who worked at Apple earlier. I think he had been an intern on the iPhone team. He said, based on what I reported, that it was a GPU overload issue, and a replacement phone might solve the problem.
+ I did test just leaving the phone alone when the touchscreen became locked. After a few minutes, it DOES fix itself, at least in my case. Which means that, even if my phone enters this locked state, there's almost no chance I can ever bring it to an Apple store to demonstrate the situation. If any of you ever have an opportunity to show it to an Apple employee in this bad state, please make sure they see it.
+ Scarlett, please let us know about your downgrade attempt to 8.0. At this point, my ideal solution would be to downgrade and not upgrade again until Apple acknowledges that this problem exist and confirms that it has been fixed. A 6+ phone should not experience these problems. I deeply regret having upgraded to iOS 9. And I'm puzzled, but glad, that my wife's phone is not having this problem.

Oct 12, 2015 1:42 PM in response to beeccccaby STRHero,I have the same problem others have reported with the touchscreen the IOS 9.0.1 update.
I tried the rest to factory defaults which did nothing for the problem.
IOS 9.0.2 did not help.
If I open the iPhone 5s with the Home button and the touchscreen is unresponsive I find that pushing the Sleep/Wake button at the top then using the Home button to reopen the phone restores the touchscreen functionality.

Oct 12, 2015 2:11 PM in response to beeccccaby whnadess,Same problem here as all the above posts. iPhone 6 Plus after 9.0.2 ... I was locked out for 30mins just this morning. Now unresponsive again after 2 mins of use. I was only capable of looking at the settings for the software version and then it became unresponsive.

Oct 13, 2015 3:45 AM in response to Scarlett Stormbornby jgrantne,I tried all of this except for downloading 9.0.1 Beta. I read that Apple isn't permitting downgrading to 8.0 I think we're screwed.
-
Oct 13, 2015 11:39 AM in response to jgrantneby Scarlett Stormborn,From what I've read that is correct, we can't downgrade to the 8.0 versions any longer. I think I've given up on my 5s until the new update comes out to fix this issue, I just got my 6s in the mail today it works just fine, but it tried to get me to upgrade to 9.0.2 I found that comical.
I really wish that Apple would make some sort of acknowledgment toward this situation, I met another girl yesterday having the same issue - so it's clear that it's happening to a lot of users. Your Quality Assurance team is slacking Apple, BIG TIME.
Good luck guys!

Oct 13, 2015 3:59 PM in response to beeccccaby HackT0se_Lamah_L33t_Sawse,My iPhone 6 Plus 64gb has been a nightmare since the 9.0.2 update. Here is a list of symptoms I'm experiencing:
- Intermittently responsive touchscreen
- iOS randomly "clicks" different areas of the screen without any input; it's like someone hacked into my phone and is controlling it remotely!
- Sluggish performance
- Requires frequent resets to clear problems.
- Problems occur 90-95% of the time, rendering the phone useless.
WTH Apple? I've never experienced an iOS release this bad!! I've been using an iPhone since the 3G model! Please fix it ASAP!!

Oct 13, 2015 7:21 PM in response to beeccccaby pearlgrey,In addition to the touchscreen problem, which I have, has anyone else noticed their screen colour is off? I now have a border of around the screen that is more yellow, or the centre looks more pink -- not sure which is the "normal/original" colour anymore.
My phone is only 7 months old so for the screen to go weirdly-coloured is really astounding.

Oct 14, 2015 6:17 AM in response to PrewittMDby jnevaaa,Threatening physical harm to an employee that literally can't change things, and is doing their best to help you is very, VERY immature. Also, a quick way to have an embarassing arrest for assault. I suggest you remove the entitlement in your thoughts, and calm down. It's just a phone.

Oct 14, 2015 8:29 AM in response to HackT0se_Lamah_L33t_Sawseby strepan,To anybody in this thread
Is someone tried to install open Beta 9.1. Since our phone are useless now with 9.0.2. Don’t think it could be any worst with a real Beta. May be I will try it, tonight. I’m going on a business trip next week and need a usable phone.
Is it worth the try?
thanks!

Oct 14, 2015 8:54 AM in response to HackT0se_Lamah_L33t_Sawseby dja4234,I have the same problems you listed, just on a 5s. Only by locking and unlocking the phone numerous times can I get the touch screen to work for long enough to get through typing a text message, all the while having to deal with the phone typing a bunch of random letters on it's own or, as you say, "clicking" random things.

Oct 14, 2015 8:55 AM in response to strepanby dja4234,For what it's worth, I updated to the 9.1 beta and still have the same issues.

Oct 14, 2015 9:25 AM in response to dja4234by strepan,Hi
was it the Beta 5?
Would be nice to know if apple is working on a solution by respect to their client. it would help me to be patient and hope for something.
I’m sadly beginning to see a solution to this problem, Samsung!

Oct 14, 2015 9:42 AM in response to beeccccaby psk from MD,I suspect the new update highlighted touchscreen problems we've all had for some time... As I posted earlier, I received my new 6+ from Verizon & it's been working fine (knock on wood). First thing I noticed with the next several days is how responsive my screen was & it made me realize my touch screen had long been kind of flakey & just crapped out once I updated to iOS 9 & 9.0.2.
My wife & son have 5s phones & since updating their touchscreens have worked fine. My wife is experiencing some buggy issues with texting & something with her contacts being messed up but overall ok...

Oct 14, 2015 9:54 AM in response to beeccccaby farmdwg,I'm running 9.0.2 on my iPhone 6+ and have the following issues with delays.
- Phone is locked. Scan my fingerprint to unlock and it doesn't respond for some 5+ seconds.
- On the home screen, swipe to changes pages. Nothing happens for 5+ seconds.
- Within application like Safari or Messages, double-click on home button to switch app. Nothing happens for 5+ seconds.
I have rebooted my phone which buys me sometime but this is a joke. It's getting bad Apple. This needs to be fixed.
