Sep 21, 2015 10:51 AM in response to Wangagatby Niel,Hard links can’t span volumes. You won’t need to keep both drives plugged in.

Sep 21, 2015 10:52 AM in response to Wangagatby LarryHN,I'm not sure but I think that would be a problem - why not just drag the iphoto library to the new EHD (verify that it is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) ), connected with a fast wired connection and not being used as a TimeMachine backup volume and then migrate on the drive you want to use?

Sep 21, 2015 10:57 AM in response to Nielby Wangagat,Thanks what I was hoping, but the migration is sitting @ 44% right now, and my destination EXD isn't showing any used up space at all, leading me to believe that no files are being actually copied.

Sep 21, 2015 10:58 AM in response to Wangagatby Old Toad,Will Photos still only create hard links
No. Hard links are only between the image files in the iPhoto Library and the migrated Photos Library at the time of migration and while they are on the same volume. After the migration any image files added to one library will only be in that library and not the other.
If you want to keep both libraries the same you'll have to import new image files into both libraries.
