Sep 26, 2015 12:53 PM in response to Lol gameby Tharnax,I for one can totally see why the original poster is confused--I am too. That is two of you that have said there is nobody from Apple here. Am I mistaken that these discussions are on the Apple website (i.e. discussions.apple.com)? When the two of you are saying WE are not Apple, are we to take it that the two of you are part of this forums moderation team. If not, why the frustration with his question? And YES, I did read the link provided that most people commenting here are users. That's the case with most forums. Thank you babowa for pointing him to a support link.
There is a significant issue with some game developers using the Game Center as the backup source for game data. Clash of Clans (CoC) is the most popular instance of this. When people have multiple devices and log in with the wrong device, they are stuck with village that they do not want. This becomes a major issue when you go to upgrade your device. There is no way to break the link for the user. And who would want to go create a second account every time they want to transfer their game data. CoC unfortunately does not even reload the app data with an iTunes restore. Personally I try to turn off Game Center on my devices because of this same issues, but invariably the problem just gets worse and worse. Every time you do a restore from iTunes or an IOS update, Game Center turns back on when you put in your iCloud or iTunes account info. Eventually you forget to turn it off and when you go to launch the game on a second device, viola you have a link you don't want.Using the Game Center function to delete the game data from the server does not seem to help in any way. This is a major issue that needs to be fixed. This ChitlinsCC is why the poster said that your info did not work. If you are unfamiliar with the issue, that's fine. After that just point him to a resource that might help like babowa did.

Apple maintains this website to give users around the world an opportunity to ask/answer technical questions. This is not tech support or customer service staffed by Apple employees.
We (the people asking and answering questions) are all users just like you. We volunteer our time to help other users. We do not work for Apple. We are not moderators (those are called "hosts" and are Apple employees and their jobs are to maintain the running of the site - they do not answer technical questions).
Any problems involving Apple ID and/or passwords must be addressed with Apple - other users cannot help with ID/security problems. I was not frustrated by the question - I simply am not sure which Apple site would be the one that would be the correct site. The OP can also always go to their nearest Genius Bar where he could get answers from Apple employees.

The poster is confused because CoC support pointed him or her to Apple for resetting Game Center Account. As we are not Apple, and cannot even know how that is accomplished, much less do it, we do our best to point out relevant articles that can be researched - sometimes there ARE NONE as is the case here.
We are not moderators - here they are Apple employees called Community Hosts that do 'housekeeping' and 'policing'. There are also Community Specialists whose role is to address only questions that go "un-replied for 24+ hours".
My 'frustration' is more accurately described as helpless - unable to act

Developer's methods and means are theirs - and thus - the Apple policy is for them to handle their own technical issues, which makes all the sense in the world. All the issues that you illustrate can only be handled "behind the curtain" by them using Apple's language and services. If they 'store' game data on Apple servers, they need to build in capabilities in their game management/administration to address all eventualities.
Mixing and matching devices with a single Apple ID should present no problems whatsoever - millions of folks do it all the time
The App itself is, or should be, written to accommodate any 'quirks' in a specific device hardware and iOS version.
Many problems we see here are caused by what we affectionately refer to as "between the seat and the screen" - user error or lack of knowledge of the workings of the App.

At bottom, while all you say may be true to some extent, this forum is not the proper venue for this problem. CoC techie should provide the appropriate contact info for Apple to do the deed they need done - as they seem to know what is required and of whom.
I never really expected any of it to actually work for the reset issue, as there was no reference in Apple documentation about the action!
As for the link to iTunes Account Support, we have no idea whether or not it was helpful, as the OP has not revisited us here to tell us one way or the other.
In conclusion, the responsibility for CoC data is firmly in CoC developer's support bailiwick - no matter where it resides.

Sep 26, 2015 3:11 PM in response to ChitlinsCCby Tharnax,That's a lot more reasoned answer. Aggravating that for some reason the Reply button won't work on my iPhone, so I need my Windows PC to respond (go figure)...
Anyway, I called Apple Support and specified I wanted help with Game Center -- spoke to a tech for 10-15 minutes and while I cannot swear this is the case, from what he told me... Game Center does not actually have the game data stored. Sounds more like it is an authentication service like logging on with Facebook. Which mean this is likely on the Developer-side (i.e. SuperCell). I have an email out to them regarding it, but who knows when or if they will respond. I do find it odd that iTunes backup doesn't seem to be saving the game data in 9.0. I specifically check it off to do so and it copied over purchases.
Apple really needs to put some work into this one. This is not the first game that I've seen something like this happen. I have an email off to them regarding that. If I get responses, will post an update. Frustrating for many I'm sure...

Most likely due to the new feature of "app thinning" introduced with iOS 9, which only maintains the bare minimum an app needs on the device itself in order to save storage space. If apps do not transfer, you can download them directly to iTunes from your Purchases as a backup.

Thanks. Your comment wa was well crafted and reasoned as well - although I ma not really sure what it really did to solve the OP's issue.
This one to which I reply, however, seems rife with rich information - clearly gleaned from talking to actual AppleFolk.
As for your last ¶... Apple sets the rules, provides the tools and services - and obviously the devices. I say again, it is the developers who must craft a well tested App - and a method of managing their own saved data - not Apple's problem if the App & its data get wonky.
best luck and "come back and see us sometime"

Sep 28, 2015 7:40 PM in response to ChitlinsCCby Tharnax,As promised... So, as I mentioned, I sent a message to SuperCell from inside the Clash of Clans game. They replied within 24 hours on a Sunday and requested a bunch of information. There were eight items, not sure if I have this exact.
1. Name of my village.
2. Level of my village.
3. The current level exp amount.
4. What clan the village was in, if any.
5. When the account was created.
6. Where the account was created.
7. Last logon and device model.
8. Most recent gem purchase.
I sent all of this information off to them, including the unique Id's for both the village and clan. I also mentioned I wasn't positive on the mm/yyyy of the creation and location, but should be close.
Within 8-12 hours I had a second email explaining that my link to Game Center had been cleared. Important: I had already logged out of Game Center on my device under Settings : Game Center : <selecting account id> : Log Out. Failure to do so would have made me immediately relink to the account when I logged back in.
Once I saw their message, I exited the game and logged into Game Center on the device that had my main TH9 village - that established the link to the village. Then, when I logged back in to Game Center on my new iPhone, it asked me if I wanted to load my village. I pressed yes, and all fixed.
Hope that helps... Definitely something you need to pursue through the developer and something that you need Customer Support for and will not be able to just fix by yourself
