Ping iPhone not working with WatchOS2

Hello. Since updating to WatchOS2, the "Ping iPhone" feature is not working from the watch's settings glance. When I hit the ping button, it says "Pinging iPhone" but no sound ever plays on the phone, regardless of how many times I hit it.

Every now and again, it will work as you would expect: Every time you hit the button, a sound plays on the phone, but for the most part the feature does not work.

If I reboot either the phone, or the watch, the feature will work for a while, then eventually stop again.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

The Watch is paired with an iPhone 6+, with iOS 9 on it.

Been having the same problem with 6 plus since ISO9. Have reset my network connections and hard booted both the watch and phone. Yesterday got unto apple support. They had me unpair and pair my watch again. Still have the ping problem. However if I open the phone, the ping feature works then. But if the phone goes to sleep with the lock screen, it won't ping.

abikeawy - I can confirm that with iOS9 iPhone 6 and watchOS 2 I'm having the same problems

update

24 hours after doing just a 'hard reset' of watch & phone.

whats changed - iphone is now on latest release 9.0.1

Ping works 100% perfect.

I am also having the same issue. I have noticed that it works better when my phone is connected to wifi. When I leave home, it works for about 10 minutes and then stops. Reporting to Apple.

I also updated to Public Beta 9.1 and that did not resolve the issue.

after reading the last two posts, thank you...I pinged again expecting no problems.

No ping on bluetooth or wi-fi (British Telecom home hub 5 mhz off, this time)

Checked Fing for ios no ip config conficts (not that should be an issue on bluetooth) no microwaves near by!

Not bothering with the Siri work around as I feel apple should fix this.

I called Apple and opened a ticket yesterday and directed them to this post. They said they have only known of one other person having reported this issue. I'd suggest you open a ticket with Apple so they know this is more widespread than 1 or 2 people.

Updated iPhone late last night to the new 9.01, and it has fixed the ping issue for my Apple Watch. Now works as before. Cheers.

This is the only thing that helped me. So turning off Siri made the ping work for my iPhone...thanks for help but I am hoping this gets fixed

so I can actually use Siri again!

Iinitially that worked for me. Then it went back to the way it was.

Shantishanti - I can confirm that the 9.0.1 update iPhone6 (watchos2) fixed the pinging issue. I've repeated abikeawy's sequence, and don't have any issues to report.

Can you describe the sequence of events that led the problem to re-appear? If you don't remember, it would be helpful if you restarted watch and iPhone, then note what you did that "broke" the pinging again. Also, what phone, and watchos are you using. Would help all of us.

Try updating to 9.0.1.
