Q: AMD RADEON R9 M290 (not 295, 295x or 290x) driver problem on windows 10

After waiting some weeks to get the new drivers from Apple BootCamp 6 for imac 5k with an Amd Radeon R9 M290 2GB video card on Windows 10 64 bits, the problem error code - 43 is not solved/fixed yet.

You can get the latest drivers from here (released today 21-Sep-2015):

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/bootcamp

Also from here (versions 15.7.1 and 15.8beta):

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+10+-+64

Or you can download the drivers from Bootcamp Assistant following the step by step guide from apple here:

Boot Camp: Solucionar los problemas de instalación del software de compatibilidad con Windows

And neither of the above solutions are working for me. Always is the same error code 43.

But maybe it is only happening in Amd Radeon R9 M290 video card not in Amd R9 295, 295x or 290x. If you want to start the Catalyst program, you will have the following message error:

"AMD Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD Catalyst Control Center"

I attached a screenshoot about this problem. You can see the yellow warning icon over AMD REDEON R9 M290 video card and the AMD Catalyst Control Center message.

I tested installing and re-installing over and over again Windows 10 64 bits Spanish edition on Bootcamp - imac 5k Mid 2015.

My imac is running

Windows 10 Pro 64 bits

Intel Core i5-4590 CPU 3.30Ghz

16 GB Ram memory

1 Tb Hard drive (is not fusion drive)

Also I tested some possible solutions below and is not working form me with the R9 M290 Amd video card:

Retina 5K - AMD Boot Camp Driver failure

SOLVED - Anyone has 5k iMac and suffers driver issues in windows 10 gotta see this

And I tested an incredible step by step guide from camberry1 (using drivers 15.6 beta version) and it is not working for me with R9 M290 Amd video card

Re: iMac Retina Radeon R9 295X Windows 10 video driver - Working

---------

Can someone help me with some other incredible ideas to solve this problem?

Are you having the same problem with the same imac 5k and same video card?

Is Amd Radeon R9 M290 your video card?

Could be the "Spanish" Windows 10  idiom the problem?

Maybe is it working on Windows Home version but not in professional version?

Your comments, ideas, experiences, support, etc are welcome. Thank you.

Yes, for this reason, it is a deep problem, not a simple like it seems.

It is some type of incompatibility with some kind of hardware specification in the video card and you are in the lucky group. But we are in the other group with the same problem without solution yet...

The same card works at 5K on the OS X side. Suspecting hardware is not an easy solution. AMD/Apple have a bad track record with the 2011 AMD GPU recalls due to bad packaging and heat issues. Creating a bug report is the safest method.

I have had Apple online support working on this since October 12, and this week brought it in to an Apple store, I am sorry to say that in the end, after a visit to the Apple store no solution was ever found...

but they were super nice to me about it and let me exchange it for a slightly newer model. My new iMac now has a R9 M390 graphics card instead of a M290... and guess what?  It works perfectly.

I still suspect that Boot Camp 6.0 needs an updated or fixed AMD driver for that M290 issue... but what do I know. I gave up.

I wish you guys better luck

Hey Pfowkes Do you have iMac model 472 (mid range late '15 27 inch model with R9 390) ? How did you get your graphic card to work on boot camp ? I have the same model, and have driver compatibility problem on boot camp windows  :/ it is not detecting the card, just as OP described it for the older 290 model.

Roof. I hope you have better luck... I went through 2 months of agony and frustration with my M290 card, until me and Apple support gave up. I used to start off with a message like "No AMD Graphics Card was detected..." and then trying to even start Catalyst would respond saying "No AMD GFX card could be found"..

Let me over-share some info... you never know what may be helpful.

    First of all my computer is a iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015), 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5, Memory 8GB 1867 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon R9 M390 2048 MB

as for install... I did every trick in the forum for my M290 with no luck... this one simply worked...  This is what basically I did. Update Yosemite to El Capitain. I made sure that my BootCamp was upgraded to Ver 6.0. I bought a new digital ISO copy of Windows 10 (it was not an upgrade from 7 or 8.1). I ran BootCamp with simply the Assistant doing everything for me. When Windows was loaded on my partition (of 250GB) I immediately updated Windows as 10 had a massive service pack... After all of that I was up and running and tested the GFX card by playing Batman Arkham Orgins at 4K specs and it has been running very well, really well actually.

I feel your pain and I hope for better results for you.

Thank you for your comment m8.

I did everything like you said and I do have exactly same specs as you have, and a fresh copy of win 10 as well. It is still not working though. Code 43 error.

    Shame on Apple, ehh.

You are the second person to say that today I have come across. It is very surprising that Apple is being blamed, while the owners of Windows OS (Microsoft) or AMD (who built the Apple variant) are being excused? Apple wrote a new TMCON for the 5K resolution for some of these GPUs.

Is there no Dell, Sony, HP, Asus, Gigabyte, Lenovo which can run on 5K with the same GPU family?
