Q: iOS 9 - frozen on > slide to upgrade. No computer access

SSimilar to hundreds of others ois 9 has frozen my iPhone 4s.  I have read the suggested resolves.  Resetting does not work and I have no access to a computer to connect to iTunes. 

 

Any suggestions

    Several Possible Solutions for Slide to Upgrade Problem

     

    Here is Apple’s suggested fix: If the Slide to Upgrade screen won't go away after you update to iOS 9 - Apple Support.

    If you have no success with the above then sign into your iCloud.com page, click on the Find My Phone icon. Click the Devices button, click on your device’s item, then remove if from the list if it is inactive. If your device is active when you click on it, then click on the Erase icon on the bottom right of your device’s displayed window. You should then try this:

     

    Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:

     

    Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.

     

       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the

           other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.

       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds

           until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.

     

                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the

                    Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,

                    release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.

     

      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the

           device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,

           let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some

           charge, and then start with step 2 again.

      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.

           When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:

      6. Use iTunes to restore the device as New.

     

    If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.

     

    Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

    I have connected to iTunes - completed a backup.

     

    Restore not permitted as 'Find My Phone' must be turned off via Settings.

     

    Cannot access iPhone settings as phone is locked at "slide to upgrade" due to ios 9 issue

     

    Opened iCloud app 'Find My Phone' and disassociated my iPhone but this has had no effect.  Restore still denied due to Find My Phone

     

    Suggestion please ??

    Sorry, but those I posted are the only ones I've come across where the person said it worked.

    I would make an appointment at the Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar and take it in for service. If you are not in the USA or cannot set up an appointment this way, then contact your local Apple Store directly.

    After (literally) several hours on the website Apple Support chat website 9.1 has been downloaded and the phone is operational but several apps still not working.

     

    Don't think I'll be downloading anything else from Apple - their management of beta testing app releases is appalling.  Now looking at Samsung phones
