Firewall on Airport Extreme

Hi, I'm using an Airport Extreme 5G behind an Hitron cable modem. Modem is not in bridge modem and Aipoirt Extreme in DHCP only mode.

Note: I tried to set modem to bridge mode but struggled to get an internet connection. If I set AE to DHCP and NAT, I get a "double NAT" error.

In which modes is the AE's firewall active (bridge, DHCP only, DHCP and NAT)? The modem also includes a firewall but may be the AE's FW is better?

Apple's specifications for the AirPort Extreme.....see below....mention that the AirPort Extreme has a NAT firewall, but there any number of users who would say that this is not really a firewall in the traditional sense.

For a simple home network, the NAT "firewall" is probably good enough for most users, but this would not be recommended for a business or a home setup where you require special security measures.

If you want to utilize the NAT "firewall", then you will need to run the AirPort in a Router Mode of DHCP and NAT.
