How do I change my passcode to only 6 numbers?

My friend and I both have iPad mini 2 and we both updated to iOS 9 at about the same time. Mine went off without a hitch and his went through the stuck on slide to update thing and he had to restore his iPad, but it is fine now. BUT the difference is that his passcode is set to be 6 numbers, and after he types in the six digits it automatically unlocks after he taps the last one. Mine has six did got passcode as well, but it was from before the update, and it had the possibility to be as *** as I wanted of course it doesn't know when I am done with my passcode, so I have to push OK when I am done in order to unlock my iPad. I would it to be able to just set a 6 digit code that unlocks automatically after I enter the sixth digit, like my friend's iPad. How do I do this? I looked in he settings under passcode, but I couldn't really find anything helpful there.

Yes I do have the exchange account, and I figured it probably had something to do with that, as before the update then we had to have the longer custom password, but my friend I mentioned above has the exact same setup with the same host and everything, so I have no idea. Maybe because he had to restore his iPad then when he set it up the mandate wasn't set yet so he chose the 6-digit passcode option and it slipped by the mandate. Because now for him too if he goes to change his passcode the only option is the custom alphanumeric code. Interesting stuff! Thanks for the help, it seems like there is no way around it.
