fcpx convert 25p to 50p

In FCPX When I drag 25p clips into a 50p project, it just doubles each frame. Is there an option to then apply optical flow so it becomes more smooth?

When I keep my 25p footage in a 25p project, then apply slowmotion by 50%, then apply optical flow, it creates a perfect result, so it must be possible 🙂

I was thinking. A workaround would be to reassign 25p footage as 50p. dragging that into 50p project. then slowmo by 50% using optical flow. But then I dont know how to reassign footage in FCPX.

Another workaround might be applying 50% slowmo to 25p footage in 25 project. Then exporting that. Then importing that into 50p timeline. Then raising the speed 200%. But that not a nice solution.

I use compressor so any solution using that program could work.

THANKS!

In the olden days, I'd have exported the movie from FCP7 after all rendering had been done. then I'd pull that fully baked movie into the old Compressor for transcoding to other formats.

At the top of the right column in Compressor, there are buttons for General, Video, and Audio. If you click on the video button you will get a bunch of weird setting you can mess with. Depending on your output format and codec, these settings will be quite different and not all of them are adjustable until you make a copy of the locked setting file.

Thanks Luis. within FCPX it works fine. Optical Flow looks great if played on the project. Individual frames seem perfectly interpolated.. But if I export with compressor, it becomes frame blending. How to deal with this Issue?

Does the same problem occur if you export a master file directly in FCP X? Do you really have to go through Compressor?
