I *hate* the new “Did this topic solve your issue?” feature

I spend a lot of time in these forums trying to help other people solve their problems rather than looking for solutions. The new “feature” makes my job harder by adding unnecessary clutter to every post I read, even to those from myself. It makes looking at the profile info at the bottom of the posts (which I must do every time before replying) particularly painful.

Is there a way to disable that “feature” or, at the very least, make it less prominent? If not, could someone please consider this post as a feature request? It’s driving me insane.

TIA.

PS: Before someone replies saying that it’s no big deal, please note that I’m talking about reading (and writing) a lot of posts which don’t solve my issue each and every day.

I agree with you David - most annoying.

It seems unfortunate that while so many niggles remain, like regular major slow-downs, a not really finished Search function etc. - we should be saddled with something like this too.

& it's sure to increase any newcomers confusion regarding Solved,Helpfuls & points.

So Please apple - take it away - make it tinier, let us opt in/out of it being there.

Submitting your feedback in this way has no effect on the way discussions are displayed, and it won't change the level or point count of those participating in the discussion.

1) So this feedback won't make the answers more prominent to those users searching AD.

2) The buttons are listed against each post when they appear to affect the whole thread; shouldn't there just be one set at the top or bottom of the thread?

3) What exactly is the point of these buttons - do help Apple write support articles? - Crafty cost neutral outsourcing of Support ? 😉

Given the quote from the announcement above I can't understand why our screen space is being wasted.

kind regards

You can count me in, this is distracting at best, and at worst gathering info on each of us, our daily maps of where each of us tend to hangout etc etc etc, sorry if I'm a bit paranoid, elections today in the US...

I blame this new feature on the current points system, I am a firm believer the 'Points' should be reset on an annual basis, you keep your level but earn your points and standings yearly... more fair in my honest opnion and besides that, I abhor "living off the past", doesn't everybody...

I understand the why of the new feature, but it is distracting... your friend in PA, Rick

You can add my "id" to the list here!

What's just as bothersome to me is the Announcement itself. I read the announcement 5 times and still am lacking a full understanding of the purpose or usage of this new feature!

I can't imagine a new users confusion as to the purpose/usage of the feature.

I hope this is (the feature and announcement), at the very least, improved as a feature if it is kept.

The ability to track which forums we've visited and which topics in those forums we've read is nothing new. That's always been possible here, and is evidenced on the front end by the blue dots in the present forums software and the stick-pin icons in the WebX software that was used previously.

Add me to the "hate it" list. Not only is it annoying, it makes no sense: how can a topic solve an issue? An answer could, but in that case, it should ask that question, which at least would justify its inclusion in every post. As it is, it apparently has nothing to do with individual posts & frequently won't with individual issues, given how many topics develop sub-threads that explore multiple (& often only loosely related) issues.

What it seems to be in reality is a mechanism to call Apple's attention to the value of a topic. If that is so, it is asking the wrong question, & the confusion that is certain to cause will render the answers all but useless.

Great! I just noticed that the feature appears even in the 'your message has been posted ... short delay' notice and worse, the rollover message for both the "yes" & "no" buttons is the same.

Dumb, dumb, dumb!

I *hate* the new “Did this topic solve your issue?” feature
