Q: Cellular Data for some apps not working

My Cellular data is always on. I only turn off for some apps that I don't need it on to save data. Occasionally I turn it on if needed. After I updated to iOS9, Cellular data can't be turned on for any Apps that were turned off at the time of the update. i.e., I had Data on for Safari and yelp only. Those remain on. If I try to turn on Data for Facebook, ebay, or just about any other app that had been off, the button does switch over to "on". When I go try to use the app, it says no connection.

Then I go back to Cellular Data to check if its on and it switches back to OFF.....

Any input on how to fix this issue is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

iPhone 5s, iOS 9

I am having the same issue, most notably with Facebook.  I have tried resetting network settings, resetting all settings, restoring the phone, and various other fixes.  I've also tried deleting the Facebook app and reinstalling after restoring.  I have made sure restrictions are off etc.  Nothing works.  As you described, the "cellular data" switch will slide to the "on" position, but after exiting and returning to cellular settings, the switch is back in the off position.  Other apps are able to use cellular data successfully when wi-fi is turned off.   IOS 9.0 (13A344), iPhone 5, Carrier Verizon

i use my phone for work and it's affecting email data usage as well which is a requirement. I'm sure Apple doesn't make it a high priority fix since it not a huge concern because it doesn't dramatically affect their revenue

tthx for replying. As I see. that is quite an issue in China.

Coz the biggest trouble is the map. When you need to check a direction or something like that. You cannot do that outdoors without wifi.

just don't know why that Apple cannot do backup separately. Then we can avoid to backup that bug in the backup package.

just hope them could release even a small update as 9.01, fix that ugly mistake

I have the same issue. It's been really impacting me as the phone is pretty much useless unless it's on wifi.

I travel a lot for work and can't call ubers, check maps and navigate.

Tried to restore network settings and the entire phone. Nothing helped. They need to fix this soon!!!
