My phone makes a loud static noise when I press the on/off button

Similar here. I think it started when I installed the smart remote app for my hearing aids, and a hard reboot stops it for awhile. Last was when I sent an email to my wireless printer. I was standing near it

Mine did that tonight. It stoped after I rebooted my phone. When I clicked the lock screen made a loud static sound for 5 seconds. Sounded like my phone was possessed by a ghost. Then the keyboard started making that sound when I clicked he keys. Turned it off and back on and it went away. I hope someone knows what this is, Id hate for this to be a consistsnt problem.

Performing a hard reset resolves the issue temporarily, but the issue does come back. I have not been able to determine how long the interval is, or what the cause is. I do know that my phone is a 6 Plus that was included in the recall due to faulty cameras, I just have not taken it in yet.

My phone has been making the very loud static noise for about two months. It started with the lock key, then anytime I would play a video. Now it happens when I send or receive text or iMessages. It only happens randomly, and never has a consistent "cause". I also have found that the hard reset helps it temporarily, but it can be very startiling since it is random. Going to the Genius Bar this weekend... Hopefully there can be some sort of resolution.

Same problem here. I just got a new iPhone 6, since my old one had a chip problem and was under warranty. Never had this problem with the old one.

Agree that rebooting the phone is just a temporary fix.

Good news! While at the Genius Bar over the weekend, the very nice man who helped me ran diagnostics on my phone and found a failure in one of the processing systems. That was really the best way he could explain for me to understand. The last time my phone was making the static noises I recorded it on my iMac, uploaded it to my google drive, and made sure to play it for the Genius while I was there. He said that is the best proof to bring (if you can) in case the diagnostics didn't show any issues related to that type of complaint. Especially since it's so difficult to prove if your phone stops making the static noises. My iPhone 6 Plus is still under the year warranty (thank goodness, my year is up on Jan. 1) so they just swapped it for a new one. I was in and out in 20 minutes. Hope this helps!

Not sure how many new phones I'm allowed to get under this warranty; hopefully I'm covered. We'll find out soon.

There are numerous threads and accounts regarding this issue (particularly after upgrading to iOS9.x). It began happening to my 6+ radomly after upgrading to 9.1 but never prior. I do not believe it is hardware-related even though your first phone showed a diagnostic error at the GeniusBar. I'm of the belief that was a coincidence. So far, I've found no explanation. Just what everyone else is finding in that if you do a power down/up, it will go away probably to return later.

This happened to me when I was watching a Facebook video and then woildndo this when I was calling as in ft basically the sound was non exsisitent and it was all static REALLY LOUD scared me! I looked some stuff up which I probably shouldn't have done and one website said I could be getting hacked ! Lol but I highly doubt that because now I see everyone's else is having a problem like me. My phone is a iPhone 6 I just restarted it and it worked fine.

Bad news. My phone started again with the static. 😟 Looks like I'll be going back to apple.

TThe solution is to uninstall Facebook app. It is cause of the problem.

Mine does it in Instagram when I type. I don't have FB installed.
