Q: apple watch not connected to phone after airplane mode

I flew with my watch and phone for the first time last week.  When I got to my destination, I noticed my phone and watch were not connected.  I ended up having to unpair my watch and reset before I could get it connected.  I was hoping this was just a glitch and made sure to put my watch in airplane mode on the way back, thinking that might have been the problem on the way there.  But, after flying back yesterday, again my watch and phone are  not connected.  What should I do to get them connected again?  Hopefully without having to go through the unpairing process and reset - that ended up being quite arduous b/c I could not find clear instructions on how to do that.

Apple Watch, watchOS 1.0.1, iphone 6, 8.3

Your Apple Watch and iPhone should reconnect automatically when they are taken out of Airplane Mode and are within normal range of each other. If they don't, try following these steps - checking after each one - until they do:

    - Check that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both enabled on your iPhone and that your iPhone and Apple Watch are close by each other.

    - Check that you don't have Airplane Mode enabled on your watch.

    - Disable and then re-enable Bluetooth on your iPhone: (Settings > Bluetooth)

    - Enable and disable Airplane Mode on your Apple Watch: Swipe up on the watch face > Swipe sideways to the Settings Glance > Tap the airplane icon to enable Airplane Mode (this turns off Bluetooth & Wi-Fi) > Wait for a short while > Tap the icon again to disable Airplane Mode (re-enables Bluetooth and Wi-Fi) > Connected should appear at the top of the screen.

    - Restart both devices.

Success!  Thank you.  I knew my bluetooth was not successfully connecting to my watch.  And I had checked the airplane mode.  I tried the next 2 steps with no success.  Finally, restarting both devices did the trick!  When this first happened, I tried restarting my watch, but I don't think I restarted my phone before I unpaired it.  Thanks again!
