Q: My 2005 Cinema display doesn't connect after I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.5

Do I need to download new software?

 

I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.5 on my iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) computer (Geez, I can't believe it's that old!) and can't get my wonderful 30" cinema display to work with it. Does anyone have a suggestion?

    How to connect the monitor to the computer: Do I just plug in the USB connector to the computer? Since it's an old monitor, it has the USB connection plus the plug for the monitor and a firewire connection as well. None of these fit into my computer except the USB plug. I haven't looked at the connection for years and have forgotten!
