Cannot type fast on IOS 9 keyboard. Disable two finger selection - how?

I own an iPad 4th gen that I just upgraded to iOS 9. I type a lot using the on screen keyboard. I am very good at typing on glass and can type very fast.

After the upgrade to iOS 9 I now have the problem that I can type so fast that certain two letter combinations (such as in, on, no, up, as) are now being interpreted as a two finger tap. Instead of inserting the desired letters, it now highlights the previous word, which then gets deleted and replaced by the next letter I type. This has rendered the on screen keyboard almost useless to me, as I am now accidentally highlighting and then replacing text as I type - all the time.

How do I turn this 'feature' off?

Hi Flaming Sasquatch,

I don't see a way to turn this "feature" off. But if you would like a hopefully temporary work around, you could try and install a third party keyboard from the App Store that will hopefully be able to bridge the gap until a work around is found or Apple releases another update.

Hopefully the option is there somewhere, but we are just missing it.

I loaded the SwiftKey keyboard app. This appears to have worked, in as much as it allows me to replace the stock on-screen keyboard with one that does not have the tap and gesture features of the iOS 9 native one. I can once again type at full speed in Ulysses for iPad. Yay!

It still doesn't solve the underlying problem with the native keyboard, so I have filed a bug report with Apple regarding the interpretation of two finger tap while typing quickly. Maybe they'll decide to fix it one of their updates.

I'm having the same problem, except that I don't consider myself particularly speedy. But I am fast enough that I get false positives for keyboard gestures regularly. Even worse is when it registers as a double or triple tap and highlights (and promptly overwrites) huge swaths of text. This feature is crippling for me. I hope they enable a toggle in a future update. Until then, I'll try the third party keyboard workaround. Thanks.
