Q: Can't disable iTunes Match!

My iTunes Match subscription expired and I've chosen not to renew. Instead, I want to use iTunes to sync and manage my music to my iPhone. When I select the device in iTunes it still says "iTunes Match is On" on the Music page even after selecting "no thanks" from the Store>iTunes Match menu, so I can't manually manage the music. How can I resolve this? Thanks!
