How to change to Calories in Activity in WatchOS 2

I was happy tracking my Move goal in Activity tracker in WatchOS 1.x in Calories. However, since upgrading to WatchOS 2.0 I am now stuck in Kilojoules!

I assume this is the default for the Australia region, but it is not what I want. Can I change it?

You can also change the units in the Health app on your iPhone. If you change them there and the watch is set to mirror the iPhone, the units on your watch will change immediatly in the Activity app. At least it did on my watch.

  • In the Health.app on the iPhone tap "Health data", then select all.
  • In the list select "Active Energy" and scroll down to "Unit". Change it to Calories.
  • Do the same for "Resting Energy".
