i-phone screen is frozen following recent up-date what to do?

I have just up-dated my i-phone 5S to the latest iteration and the phone has frozen. The touch screen is unresponsive. I can get in using my fingerprint but nothing else. I cannot answer calls although the phone rings. I cannot turn off and shut down even using the button. Any help gratefully received.

Hello there,

From your post I understand that your iPhone is unlocking with the Touch ID, but the screen itself is completely unresponsive. To troubleshoot this issue please follow the steps in the link below.

Make sure your hands are clean and dry, then try these steps:

  1. If you have a case or screen protector on your device, try removing it.
  2. Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
  3. Unplug your device.
  4. Restart your device. If you can't restart, force your device to restart.

If your touchscreen still doesn't respond like it should, contact Apple Support or take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Take care.
