Q: Iphone 4s - stuck on 'slide to upgrade' after IOS 9 update

basically updated to ios 9 last night - woke up to the getting started screen, i made a passcode etc then got to the slide to upgrade screen, i slide, put passcode in then comes up with he apple logo and a loading bar - it jumps from 0 to like 1 third of the way, stays like that for however long then turns off and back on repeating the process. i've followed the steps of

'

Use these steps:

  1. Connect your iOS device to a computer that you've previously synced with iTunes. Then make sure iTunes is open.
  2. Select your device. If you don't see it listed, force restart your device by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
  3. If you made an iTunes backup of your device before updating to iOS 9, restore your device from that backup. If not, you need to make a backup of your device in iTunes, then restore from that backup.

however this doesn't solve it. when i hold in the buttons the apple logo appears but a message saying 'do you want to allow this computer to access information on 'my phone'. basically if i cancel it wont sync but if i press continue it says 'to allow access, please respond on your phone' and obviously i cant do that. appreciate it if anyone can help me and i hope this can help other people too.

Then you have to try the second suggestion in that support article.

If you still see the Slide to Upgrade screen after completing the steps above:

    1. Restore your device. If you don't see your device in iTunes, or your computer won't trust your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until your device restarts and appears in iTunes. When prompted, choose Restore.
    2. After the restore is complete, set up your device as new.

Your device is in recovery mode. My iPad 3 went into recovery mode when I updated to iOS 9. Disconnect the device from iTunes, restart iTunes and then connect the device again. You should be given the option to uodate or restore the device. Choose the option to update the software first and see if that is successful. Be patient, it takes a while. It took me about 35-40 minutes to complete the process.
