Cant see individual clips in the timeline of iMovie 10.0.9

I added clips into the timeline of a new movie in iMovie. Once they were inserted into the timeline, I could not see the individual clips. Instead they were all bunched together, only showing one clip, and hairline indicators of all the other clips in blue, yellow and red below. It is difficult to see where to add transitions and titles when you can't see or place it in the indivial clips.

The blue yellow and red is the audio track of the clip and nothing to do with other clips. The yellow and red show that the volume is set too high - normally it would be all blue.

Your screen shot shows a single clip with a transition before it and no clip after it. The bit of blue by the white dot on the playhead is a title. Is that all you see in the timeline? How did you try to add other clips? Look at the project thumbnail in the event browser (with the chevron at the top). To the right of this is shown the duration of the project. Does this time correspond to just one clip or to all the clips you tried to add?
