Using SSD drives in 2003 iMac G4/800 15 in flat panel

It's been a while since I have messed with this stuff, so be nice to an old man. 🙂

I have acquired this wonderful "lamp" model iMac. It needs upgrading, but my pressing question concerns interlacing with SSD drives.

Some non-Apple docs say that the HDD installed is IDE and in fact, the cable and plug are IDE -- flat, grey ribbon with red-line identifier on one edge, etc. However, System Profiler IDs the bus as ATA.

Is this doable? Maybe a cable adapter out there?
