How can I turn off the news feed in the new search screen?
I just did the new update and now on the left screen there's a news feed I don't want on there. Any ideas on how to remove or hide it at the very least? Thank you!
iPhone 6, iOS 9.0.1

The real answer is Settings > General > Enable Restrictions > Choose a passcode then turn off news. Voila! This is quite an old thread but came up for me in my search and the only starred reply was not helpful.
Thanks. I can't take any more unsolicited notifications of what Trump is doing.
There was a post about this that someone claimed they went to Settings | News and turned off notifications and they no longer showed up on the search screen. They even posted screenshots proving that it worked. However, no matter what notifications I turn off or change, News still shows up on my search screen. Let us know your results.
In IOS 10.02, turning off spotlight suggestions did not do it.
Scroll left to the search screen. Then scroll down (below the "feeds") and you'll see an edit button.
Hit this and you can remove widgets- one of which is the news feed.
Yeah- I agree that Apple seems to be pushing various news sources into their IOS without users consent.
Tacky.
>> General >> Settings >> Spotlight Search -- turn off news feed from there, I turned everything off except contacts & Google maps even though I Haver unlimited data...seemed like that was the only thing that worked!!

Thanks for that. A lot of us really appreciate the kind of imput people like you put into this supprt site Jerry. Sometimes it is good to mention that.
I just objected to *usatoday*and other newspapers I don't read or like showing up on that screen. I am wonderiing if on ios9 it will 'intelligently' learn not to show them? I might let it run awhile with SPOTLIGHT SUGGESTIONS on to see if that happens. It feels a bit outside the 'no bloat ware' ethos of Apple, a bit like the U2 addded songs a while back? Don't know if any of you feel like that? Anyway thanks for the pointers here; I would never have found it, I only just mangaged to figure out what that screen was called even! 🙂
I think I solved it. You guys were close, but here's what ya do
>> General >> Settings >> Spotlight Search -- turn off SPOTLIGHT SUGGESTIONS.
hope this helped
Thank you.. it worked!
