Ad Blocking apps on an iPad3 is it possible?

I have a first model iPad with Retina Display. The one immediately after the iPad2. I am able to run iOS9 on the device but every time I try to download one of those new ad blocking apps I am told that the app is incompatible with my device. Have any of these been made to work with older iPads like mine? Is it even possible to get an ad block app these older models?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, running through the apps it seems difficult to choose one that is compatible. Some of them don't even list which hardware they are compatible with. Not sure I would know how to use something running off a proxy or VPN. Trying them one by one just confirms that I cannot run the ones I would prefer on my hardware, so that is a bummer.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
