Sep 23, 2015 7:30 PM in response to William Estelleby LarryHN,I've not seen those but the way to know exactly what your printed book will look like is to preview it this way and save the PDF for reference - Preview a print project in Photos, iPhoto, or Aperture to avoid issues - Apple Support

Sep 23, 2015 7:48 PM in response to LarryHNby William Estelle,I did as you suggested and the dash does appear on the printed version. I can tell you that the dash appears on all the custom layout page options, but there seems to be no purpose. They cannot be selected, deleted or edited. Here is what an entire page looks like including the layout options. Selecting or deselecting the text option has no apparent effect and the dash is still not accessible.

Sep 24, 2015 10:04 AM in response to William Estelleby Old Toad,With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
- what system are you running?
- what version of iPhoto are you running?
- what theme are you using?
- what fixes have you tried?
- where is your library located?
- did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
- are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
- what type of Mac?
- how much free space on your boot drive?

Sep 24, 2015 9:11 PM in response to Old Toadby William Estelle,Thanks for taking the time to help. Here are my answers to your questions:
1. OS X Version 10.9.5 I do this because I run Dreamweaver and Photoshop from purchased copies (not subscription) and they have become somewhat vulnerable under OS 10.10.
2. iPhoto 9.5.1 (Version 902.17)
3. Theme: Family Album
4. Quitting/restarting iPhoto, restarting computer, deleting offending pages and inserting new pages. The common factor in these unwanted dashes is that they all come from the ‘custom’ page layout option.
5. Library is in the Pictures folder on the Mac Hard Drive.
6. No updates
7. Managed
8. 27-inch iMac, Late 2012. 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB, 1TB Hard Drive + 120 GB SSD (Fusion Drive)
9. About 70 GB free space

Sep 25, 2015 8:51 AM in response to William Estelleby Old Toad,REVISED REPLY:
I'm running 9.6.1 with Yosemite but can't duplicate the issue you're seeing.
Try rebuilding the library's database file:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
2 - apply Option #4, Rebuild Database.

Sep 27, 2015 5:17 PM in response to Old Toadby William Estelle,I appreciate all the help, but in the end I could not solve the problem. I finally just rebuilt the photo book using another theme, which did not have those issues. Thanks again.
