I am running iOS 9. My phone and watch are connected and my iPhone is on wifi. Both are connected to power. When I open the Software Update section in the Watch app it says "watchOS 1.0.1 / Your software is up to date."
I have restarted both but it still won't let me get watchOS 2.
What must I do??

I had this issue too. Followed all instructions, devices plugged in, paired and on WiFi. IOS 9. My watch updated and showed OS 1.0.1 with no OS 2 in sight. I hard reset both the watch and phone 3 times each (watch, phone, watch, phone, watch, phone). Surprise! The Watch app now shows the watch is on OS 2.
I had quite a hard time doing the update which I am certain was my own user error. Nevertheless frustrating and then my watch had the features of 2.0 but my phone was showing the 1.0.1. Thank you for suggesting the had reset for both as my watch and phone both are showing the 2.0.

I also had this problem. I needed to reset the apple watch (iPhone stores a backup) and with this the watchios 2 appears available.
Apple watch app still says I am current at watchOS 1.0.1.. why??
