Restart Apple Watch, wait for full reboot (leave it on charger throughout)
On iPhone open Watch App, General, Setings-select download and update
Update should prepare/verify/install normally, takes about 20 minutes once install progress indicator is displayed.

Sep 24, 2015 1:48 PM in response to RobertJ17by RobertJ17,Ok Thank you for the suggestions. I did the restarts on both Watch and iPhone. Now the phone app says watch software is up to date watchOS 1.0.1. Not OS 2. It was there earlier but not now. Now checking for update of app in app store.

Sep 24, 2015 3:27 PM in response to RobertJ17by Atoku,Had the same experience when I first attempted to update, before the verification hang up. I just tried another update request and v2 popped right up. Had no further issue after restarting both devices but the processing, verification, installation and more reboots on the watch took longer than expected. Not smooth at all and there were times when the progress circle just stopped. All fine now on watchOS2.
