Can't access photos from Pages or iWeb anymore?

I used to drag and drop photos into my documents. It was one of the awesomest things about having a Mac. Now that I've "upgraded" to Yosemite (and iPhoto has been removed) I'm finding that my photos no longer "talk" to my productivity apps like Pages and iWeb. ***?? Not only can I not drag and drop photos, but I cannot access them from within Pages (or iWeb)--under photos it only shows me Photo Booth. This makes no sense and leaves me performing most un-Apple-like maneuvers just to insert an f-ing photo into a document. This just seems like a huge step backwards to make an app (Photos) that does not play well with other Apple apps. This makes me frustrated and makes my job so much harder.

There is no hope to be able to see Photos in iWeb, for it will never be updated to work with Photos. It is no longer developed. But the most recent version of Pages, version 5.5.3, should be able to show you your Photos Library in the Media section. It will show in the Media Browser, provided you enabled your current Photos Library as the System Photo Library in the Photos > Preferences > Use as System Photo Library. This option should be grayed out, to show it is selected.

To use your Photos Library in iWeb export the photos you want to use to a folder on your Desktop with File > Export. Then drag them from there to your iWeb pages.

I have the same problem. I'm using the latest version of Pages (5.5.3). I followed your advice on using the Photos library as the system library (it was already set, that is, greyed out). But still no photos in Pages, just a "thinking" spinner where they should appear in the media browser.

***UPDATE***

And, of course, right after i typed this, I tried quitting and restarting Pages, and now it works.

It needs patience to use the Media Browser with Photos the first few times.
