Q: Black Screen When you try to open Application for First Time

I updated to ios 9 and 9.0.1 and the issue still exist on iphone 5, 5c, 5s and 6

When you launch any application for the first time.you will get a black screen.

If you use the home button the screen is visible again and the application that was opened now works. If you kill the application and try to reopen the problem appear again.

The problem is not random

in order to replicate the issue do the following.

restart the phone (the problem dissapear)

from Locked Screen

Press the home button in order to do a voice call. or use what ever u use to do voice calls (car kit, hand free etc)

do a call that the other will answer.

close the call as you usually do.

Try to open an application that it wasn't previously opened e.g. Calendar. you get the black screen

You get the black screen on first startup of any application

*** If you go to home and reopen the application then it will appear ok because it was already opened and was in the background.

** if you kill/close the application and try to reopen it, you will get again the black screen.

* This also happens to the camera shortcut on locked screen

***** In order to temporary fix the issue, restart the phone and everything will be ok until u do a voice call.

I hope that this post will help Apple devs to create a fix for the issue.

Unfortunately 9.0.2 did not solve the problem.

Apple devs do not see this forum? *** i can replicate the problem on any iphone model. If they spend 1 minute they will see the problem.

and i see on various posts about brightness and hard boot NOTHING resolves this issue.

And i have also noticed that if isms is off then all sms messages are converted to CAPS? come on i thought apple is better than this.

    Ciao Gabriel,

I have found the same issue with "black screen" using iPhone 6, exactly as you describe.

Yesterday I've updated with 9.0.2 and now, after a voice call using Jabra bluetooth headset, seems to be all right.

Did you test 9.0.2 with iPhone 6 too ?

    Thanks, bye.

After updating to iOS 9 I had some lag issues, and I kinda solved them by disabling Siri. Then the black screen apps started. So I tried turning Siri on again, and that seems to have fixed the black screen apps. Atleast I can't replicate the problem again

    I hope that helps.

I have never used Siri, and I've been having the problem constantly. No manner of re-booting appears to resolve the issue for long. And Gabriel is correct, the update to 9.0.2 did not solve the issue either

I've got this same issue and problem seems to have anything gotten worse with IOS 9.0.2. It happens for any app being opened or reopened from the icon (as opposed to swiping to find already open app). It occurs with all Apps, including apple builtin --ie Settings app, App Store app. It occurs to me that perhaps this is related to Apple's quality measuring software. When installing a new OS I routinely decide NOT to send Apple error information for errors that occur on my phone. The fact that Apple hasn't acknowledged this issue makes me wonder if they're not seeing the data in their feeds--ie they only really respond to user complaints when they're corroborated with error information uploads. Could it be this problem only occurs for people who have chose NOT to send Apple error information from their phones? Anybody else with this issue, can you report which setting you have on your phone for error information reporting?

My mom recently got an iPhone 6S and it is also having the black screen when opening any app. It is running iOS 9.0.2. My 5S is also running 9.0.2, but it doesn't have any problems with the black screen. Anyone hear of any permanent fix for this?
