Q: How do I copy a formula result as text in numbers?

I want to copy the column of results driven by a formula but just as text. i.e., i want to copy the text to a new column without copying the formula over so that I can delete the original columns of data that provided these results

    select the column, copy

select the destination, select the menu item "Edit > Paste Formula Results"

Copy always copies the contents and format of the cell. The contents in this case are the formula (and it's current result).

But you can Paste Formula Results using that menu item in the Edit menu.

If you intend deleting the original column following the paste, there's no real need to create a new column, paste into it, then delete the original column. You could instead:

Select and copy the original column (containing the formulas)

    With the column still selected...

go Edit (menu) > Paste formula results.

Is there a way to do this automatically i.e. when I click on checkbox?

    Hi Pluto,

There is no way to do this simply checking a checkbox.

Copy>Paste Formula Results is your quickest way to go. Hardly more work than clicking a checkbox. As Barry suggests you don't even need to paste into a different column.
