Can't add text below a table; no cursor

I've created a very basic page consisting of a table with a single column and 3 rows. I'm finished entering the contents into the table, and now I need to add text below it, but I don't see the cursor, and if I type, I don't see any text. I've been using Microsoft Word for almost 20 years, and I've used Quark XPress, too, but this completely stumps me. Any ideas?

Thanks...

Hello Mike,

is the table an inline object, means it is placed into the main text area? You can identify this by the handles. A inline object has only one handle grabable, but a fix positioned one has all handles grabable. So if it is an inline object, click once onto the table so you see the eight handles around it. Now press the cursor left arrow key and the text cursor should be placed at the left side or below the table (if your paragraph style is left aligned).

The other case can be that the table is a fix positioned object, so not in a text area. Than it may be placed above the text area and you can't see the text cursor because it is covered by the table.

Thanks for your reply, Frank. Interestingly, my table indeed has 8 handles, but when I clicked on it and then pressed the left cursor arrow key, the table moved to the left with each click. I discovered, though, by moving the table down using the down arrow, and then deselecting the table, I was able to see the cursor flashing in the upper left-hand corner of the text window, behind the table. I see now, by changing the table's parameter to 'Moves With Text' the cursor appears below the table.

Thanks for your help!
