How to use samsung external hard drive?

I just bought a Samsung M3 external hard drive (after being assured it would be super easy to use), and I seem to be having major issues with it. First of all I plugged it in and tried to follow the instructions on another mac forum to copy iPhoto library onto the hard drive. It would not let me do so. Another few attempts and no luck. I then accidentally dragged the samsung icon from devices in finder and it has now completely disappeared. I have tried restarting my mac, disconnecting the hard drive etc, and it still won't appear in finder.

I have a macbook pro 13 inch 2013ish model.

As you have probably guessed I am really not very good with technology, so I would really appreciate any help you can give.
