Digital leash for Apple Watch/iPhone

Hi there,

There has been a recent spate of thefts of phones from coffee shops around me, which got me wondering - is there a digital leash app for the Apple Watch and iPhone that would trigger an alarm on the phone and/or watch when they are separated by a small distance (say 6-10 feet)?

Is that even possible given the way bluetooth technology works?!

I can't seem to find anything online about this, but may be using the wrong terminology!

That is not currently a feature of watchOS 2.

Thanks Jonathan. Seems a real shame - I'm guessing it's not possible for third party app to do something similar.

That is a real shame! I just switched from android wear to apple watch. android wear watched have these simple apps that does it very well. So simple to do that if the bluetooth signal is lost a beep from watch comes on. It may be anoying at times when you are at home but when you are out soo useful. I've left my phone number of times in car and out in restuarants. Android watch saved me from walking too far to realize didn't have my phone.
