ios9 ipad air2 and ipad air rotation home screen not working anymore

In my experience, Apple almost never responses to "bugs" unless they consider them to be very widespread or security issues and they only respond after they have fixed them. I had the screen rotation issues in iOS 8, but iOS 9 fixed it for me and from what I have read here in a few discussions, iOS 9 fixed it for many other users. Maybe you have something else going on with your device. Have you done any troubleshooting?

I too have this issue on an air2, though it didn't present itself until 9.0.1. It was fine in the initial release.

I was having this issue on my iPad Air as well, and I found restarting the device twice resolved it for me. Not sure why, but just power off your device and see whether it fixes the issue.

same issue, i full restored 2 times, at second time before reboot all works fine.. after reboot same issue. 9.0.1 won't fix this.

I have the same problem on my iPad Air 2.

9.0.2 doesn't fix the problem. :-(

Just upgraded to 9.0.2 and still have the inconsistent rotation.

Same issue. The screen keeps its direction and cannot rotate it after closing an app. It rotates to the correct direction after I slide the screen/press home button or open another app.

I think i have a solution.

I had the same issue. I can confirm what you all have stated that it didn't happen with other apps, just with home and lock screens and that it went away once I slided or pressed the home button or opened an app.

Had a chat with Apple Support; they made me do a soft reset and they ran a remote diagnostic. Nothing showed up apparently. Support told me that this particular issue should have been resolved with iOS 9.0.2 update. So they suggested a full reset.

I did a backup, shut off "Find my iPad" on iCloud (dunno why they asked me to do it, but they were very specific about it); reseted the iPad as "new device" and updated to 9.0.2 from iTunes (I had previously updated from the device)... and it worked!

No problems with rotation anymore. No lag or slow-motion turns.

I will update this if anything happens. But so far, it worked.

After a full restore of 9.0 and 9.0.1 it worked for me but after some reboots and days bug come up again. I can't restore again, i spent 1 week for recofnigure al. I think Apple can dic it with an update

Still having trouble with screen rotation on my iPad Air with iOS 9.0.2, despite a full reset and restore from backup: The iPad does not "automatically" update the screen orientation when rotated. At least, it finds and updates to the correct screen orientation after pressing the home button...

Hey, Apple, please fix this with 9.0.3!

Funny thing! I was just browsing this forum for a solution and half way through received an os update. Did the update(9.1) and voila! Problem solved!

Good news: Upgrading to iOS 9.1 seems to have resolved the rotation problem. 🙂

Just bought a brand new iPad Air2 running iOS 9.1 and no way to make rotation work. Not pleased at all with my purchase!

Alain, only thing I can do is to affirm that I had no more rotation problems with an iPad Air 1 after I upgraded to iOS 9.1.

While I can't say anything about the iPad Air 2.

Just a long guess, probably much too simple: Did you check the Rotation Lock in the Control Center?
