mini ipad now a brick?

Hi All

Am at wits end! Upgraded to ios9 and got the slide to upgrade issue. so cannot get into the ipad anymore.

didn't do a back up before updating.

can't backup now because it gets stuck half way through backing up

have deleted all apps in iTunes to try and get it to back up so I can restore (reports that this solves the slide issue)

Is there nothing I can do - main issue there are lots of notes on the ipad which I could really do with saving.

do I have to wait for an update?

any advice gratefully received.
