To add a website to your favorites in Safari, follow these steps. First, make sure that you are at the top of the webpage so that you can see the address bar. Look at the bottom and tap on the third icon (looks like a page with an up arrow). Once you do this, you will see the option to add the website to your favorites.

After ios 8, my efficient Favorites Bar was gone. I am usually the one helping associates with this sort of thing. My iPad was no longer my best friend, and I was forced to use the Editor at the top left, to get to my bookmarked sites. I was at witt's end, with no viable answer anywhere on the net. I had not only created a comprehensive Bookmarks (Favorites) Bar, but also had created cateragised pull down folders that housed multiple Bookmarks. It took years to create, and poof, gone. Tonight I was trying every way possible to get back what I had lost, and think I finally figured it out. i had found all my Bookmark folders in the Editor (top left), but knew it wasn't meant to be used for navigating the web. Not only were my folders gone from the bar, but new Favorites folders appeared out of nowher, and couldn't be deleted. Tonight I randomly bookmarked some sites, in different locations, then went to settings, and kept changing settings for Favorites. That began to reveal a map of where those Bookmarks appeared in the Bookmarks Editer (at the top left of Safari). Once I narrowed down where the Favorites Bar (with the star) was, I went to the Bookmarks Editer (top left), found my folders full of websites, and simply tapped Edit at The bottom, and used the left arrow at the top, and chose (Starred) "Favorites". Now instead of having pull down folders all the way across where the Bookmarks Bar had been (with 3 dots to reval the rest of my folders), I now have one folder called "Favorites Bar" (I had apparently created) on the top Left of the page. Since it's a folder of bookmark folders (if that makes sense), it's a pull-down that reveals my trusty old folders. An added bonus, is that I now see those folders, when I tap "+", to add amother page. I truly hope this makes sense, and helps someone.

After I click on the page with the up arrow, I had to swipe to the left on the rows of grey icons to find the bookmark or favorites.

To recap all the steps:

To add a website to your favorites in Safari, follow these steps. First, make sure that you are at the top of the webpage so that you can see the address bar. Look at the bottom and tap on the third icon (looks like a page with an up arrow). Swipe to scroll through the options until you find bookmark or favorites. You can edit the title, then click save.
