Q: Exchange calendar not syncing after iOS 9 update

I am using google Apps for business (no two steps authentication) and Exchange calendar stops syncing after iOS 9 update (now running on iOS 9.0.1) . It is happening both on iPad and iPhone and started after the update.

I have already tried resetting both devices (and set up as new device without restoring from iCloud backups), it works for a few hours and then it stops again. The temporary solutions of either disabling the calendar sync and re-enable it or deleting the Exchange account and setting it up again, works for only a few hours.

Does anyone else experiencing the same problem?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.0.1

    Hi Kent,

we have a High-Level Escalation Team here that specifically talks to Google Business Support and are intouch with Google Directly. I didn't get much details but they pretty much confirmed the core problem being in Google's Court for now. The only work around they offered was to use the Google Calendar App or the Google Gmail App until this gets sorted. And was told, "Google Made iOS-Apps are not hampered with any syncing issues that affect the native Apple iOS App.

I'm going to wait for more updates.. I've already triend those Apps with users and its opening up a whole other can of worms.

Btw today we're not only seeing Calendars out of sync, but Mail and Contacts as well.

Thanks for the update.  I'll ping our google reps as well.  Its good to see someone taking some ownership.

We are seeing issues as well.  Including no Apple Watch support via the Google Calendar app.

One other question since this is happening to Exchange customers how can this be a google issue?

Not sure of the particulars but Google does use Exchange on the back-end for some of their stuff. We currently configure our mobile devices with an Exchange/Active Sync profile that points to m.google.com.

Find that very hard to believe. I know they licensed a version of activesync (Googlesync) like a lot of companies and I'm sure built it into their code base not running a massive exchange farm .  And we do the same as well for our activesync devices to m.google.com.

Sorry kentfromlouisville, I've always been told from our Google Apps admin that Google uses "Exchange" for our stuff. It's likely as you said Exchange Active Sync, not a large Exchange farm.

I'm having the exact issue now.   If I add an appointment on my ipad, it won't sync to the phone, or it does so late, but definitely won't sync to my imac cal.  I'm using iCal, with google calendar.  This problem didn't exist even three weeks ago for me.   Someone please find a solution and post.

I'm with Andypantz on this one, I have the same information from our Google Apps Business team. "Google Apps uses Exchange ActiveSync."

I'm not an Exchange expert, so I couldn't contradict them.

Still waiting for something from the escalation team.. Hoping for a hail mary and get some time of light by end of day

Google Apps uses Activesync. Think people just add the exchange part in.  But anyways.  Just heard back on my Google case.

The issue you described is a known issue that is currently being investigated. For your reference, it’s issue#blanked and it is affecting users in iOS 9, 9.0.1, 9.0.2.  There is currently no ETA for the fix, but it is being worked on with high priority.

So they are well aware of it.

Update: So I reached out to our contacts at Apple to ask for direction on this issue. No response. I then asked our Google Apps admin to open a ticket with Google and see if they could help. They responded back, as stated by others, that it is a known issue on Google's side, engineers are working on it, not ETA on fix yada, yada, yada. Their work around suggestion was to download the Google Calendar App. They sent me a link to their known issues page. Below is a screenshot of the Calendar Sync  problem and suggested work arounds.

Thank you Andy for posting this... although part of me is skeptical Google will fix GoogleSync... I am thrilled that Google Calendar App works instead! Actually, the calendar is more functional that way. Didn't realize there was an app for that! (at least for an iphone).

I have the same problem but I dont have google calendar. The only thing that syncs for me are emails on my iCloud account. My iCloud calendar, tasks and contacts wont sync. Neither will my exchange email, calendar, and contacts.

Mines even stranger. When I update an appointment on Google Calendar, it syncs with my ipad but not my iPhone. Then when I add an appointment with my iPad, it syncs with Google Mail nut not my iPhone. Anyone have the same issue?

Has this issue been fixed yet? it is ruining my life. I live by my phone for all my business' calendars and now I have to print them out everyday. This is ridiculous. Android is looking better right now.
