Q: Why is Discover credit not available for in app purchase?

I try to buy printer in the Staples app. All of the credit cards in Wallet is available for in app purchase. Why is the only one not available is Discover credit cards?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.0.1

    In other words, are certain credit cards that are added to Wallet, are not able to do in app Apple Pay purchase? Or is there something I need to do to turn it on?

    I'm having basically the same issue. Discover is the only card I have that supports  Pay and the button doesn't even appear in apps. Apparently Discover only wants us to make purchases at physical stores?

    I recently added my Discover card to Apple Pay and noticed this business about not being able to make in-app

    purchases.  It was driving me crazy, so I phoned them.  Turns out, it's legit.  The rep agreed that being able to

    make in-app purchases would be nice, but had no idea why.  I basically told her that until Discover gets it together,

    AXP will stay my default card.

     

    What kind of issuer doesn't want us making in-all purchases?

     

    crazy - took forever to offer Apple Pay and now no in-app purchases.

    Same issue here. I was trying to make a purchase via target app and wanted to take the advantage of 10% Discover card cashback, and I could not which was a big bummer for me

    How frustrating - Ive been trying to buy the new Apple TV and it wont let me use Discover ......  I bet after the 10% promotion period they open up in app purchases

    I too have been trying to use my Discover card through Apple Pay to get the 10% promotion. I spent almost an hour trying to get apple pay to show up in the Apple store app and couldn't figure out why it wasn't showing as a payment option. As soon as I added my AMEX card to apple pay it showed up and specifically says that my discover isn't available for Apple Pay....

     

    If you're interested though you can get 5% cashback through the benefits page on discover.com, it'll pay for most of the taxes

    I found out from a Discover representative that only certain apps will accept Discover card for in-app payments. This is apparently not posted on their website. As of the time of this writing, the list is as follows:

     

    Apple Retail

    B&H Photo

    Shop.com

    Specialty's Café

    Wayfair

    Overstock.com

    Houlihan's

    Cafe Max


    They do plan to add to this list, and the representative I spoke to graciously submitted feedback to add certain merchants, as well as publish this list and limitation on their website.
