Can I read ibooks on my Macbook Pro (late 2011) OS X Lion

No, the ibooks app requires at least Mavericks.


Best use some other store like kindle or google which might have an ereader compatible with your OS version.

Why not go to El Capitan, which comes out next week? Which ever os you upgrade to, it's best to test first on a separate partition, so you can go back to your current system in case something essential for you does not work right on the new one.
