Q: Memory leak on W7 x64 Post iOS9 upgrades iCloudServices.exe

Post upgrade of all my devices to iOS9 and upgrade of iTunes to v 12.3.044 I
am having repeated lockups and crashes of the iCloudServices.exe process. I get
low memory warning when the process approaches 1.6GB and then it just dies. I
can manually restart icloud app from the start menu and when I do so it runs
but resumes a slow climb back to 1.6gb and crashes again.

I have done a repair on the iCloud app and an uninstall / reinstall. Same
results

This iCloud app and process appear to be 32 bit v iTunes app is 64.

This behavior of the icloudservices.exe process began IMMEDIATELY after
upgrading to the iOS per comments above with no change to anything else on my
PC. My PC has 16gb ram so there is plenty available at all times.

I struggled through a similar issue with itunes app for more than 1 year ..
this was resolved via one of the iTunes updates during 2015 … here is thread documenting that history

I have just upgraded to Version 5. Still not fixed. If you load Task Manager and look at ICloudServices, you can watch the memory size increasing at about 4K every few seconds. Not good enough, Apple!

Unfortunately, since I upgraded to iTunes 12.3.1.3 the issue is still there. I'm also still on iCloudservice 4.0.1.0. How do you upgrade to Vs 5.0 btw?

Anecdotally, perhaps the memory leak is not as bad/fast now since upgrading to iTunes Vs 12.3, but I'll need more time to confirm this.

Btw, I take it that the iCloudservice is upgraded along with iTunes? I've never seen a separate upgrade notice like the one you get when either a Quicktime or iTunes upgrade is suggested.

Always from this site : Download iCloud for Windows - Apple Support

You will know there has been an update by checking the date of the page update at the bottom.

Thanks . But, as reported by someone else a few posts back, it hasn't solved the memory creep problem .

Nope, based on one night I left the PC idling it definitely doesn't help. Time to post to http://apple.com/feedback again.

I updated to iCloud Monitor 5 and it is now even worse. With 4.1 the RAM consumption started at 3600 K and increased during the day to sometimes 500.000 K. Now with 5.1 it starts already with 30.000 K and is increasing every minute by 1.000 K. No other process does this.

Strange and interesting at the same time...Since upgrading to iCloud Vs 5, memory creep on my system has now reduced to about half the rate previously when on iCloud Vs 4.

    Same experience here.

The memory problem persists. I upgraded iTunes to 12.3.1.23 and still iCloud 4.1.

As you may feel, too, the vreeping may have slowed down, for me it increased to 300.000 k in 3 days/nights, but it still keeps increasing and that is a problem.

A Listener-App or Monitor-App like iCloud for Windows should not need more than a few MB.

Btw, iCloud wasn't upgraded together with iTunes this time. I think it doesn't always upgrade together. I have seen independent as well as combined upgrade notices before.

Apple please fix this. It's very annoying.

1.2 GB memory for no reason, noticed first at 400/ 500 M and then just grows by itself even when machine is idle.

    Win 8.1 x 64 Pro.

I had just upped to iTunes 12.3.0.4 / 12.3.1 for iOS 9 Update. It suggested to install the latest iCloud setup.. which I did, big mistake and then Started happening after.

I am wondering if we should uninstall iCloud.exe and reinstall the last older version that was not leaking on my PC.

for sure just uninstalling and reinstalling the leaking version does not help. I did that several times and each time the leak was reproduced.

for me end task on icloudservices.exe temporality solves the problem. I end up doing this every couple of days.

Yes its hard to grasp that apple would fail to catch this in testing and further fail to fix given the feedback in this forum and time that has elapsed.

Its easy to manually start the app when needed. I have seen no negative consequences in terms of corruption using this routine.

I kill this process abaou 5 times a day, it starts automatically after short time without restart of the system.

I could not find this process anywhere to stop the automtic start of this.

Do anybody know where to stop the automatic start.

Oh great, so I'm going to have to keep on killing this thing till they manage to sort out a fix then? Whatever happened to quality control and testing??
