I'm thinking about buying a used iPod classic 6th or 7th generation. I want to make sure it will sync with the latest version of iTunes. I'm using a Macbook Pro. Thanks.

Yes, it will. If you have a chance to inspect the device before purchase make sure to check the HDD stats first. See Corrupt iPod classic for details. 0 pending and a few 100 reallocs would be acceptable, once reallocs get into the 1000s I'd start to worry.
