I know this is late, but may help others in the same boat. I had the same problem with my external monitors. This free app, "Brightness Slider," worked for controlling my external monitors' brightness. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/brightness-slider/id456624497?mt=12

Wow! ok...sorry for asking a STUPID question apparently.

The person who owns it is LITERALLY dying w/ Stage 4 cancer and is too weak to even function (no such thing as Stage 5). I work for him and am using it to save his life...so...sorry if I don't have anymore data for you. I just unplugged it and held it upside-down (HUGE & HEAVY; almost dropped it) to take a pic of the bottom of the stand it is attached to, w/ my cell to give u LITERALLY the ONLY printed info on it...can ONLY upload a 2MB pic (my Samsung Galaxy 5 Note can't take a pic w/ that low a resolution) so I can't attach the pic.

Here is what it says: "Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China Model Number: A1267 EMC Number 2263 Rated 100-240V-- 50-60Hz, 3-1-2A. Complies with Canadian ICES-003 Class B specifications. Apparaten skall anslutas till jordat natuttag. TM and @ 2008 Apple inc. Cupertina, California 95014"

And if that's NOT enough data for you...then I don't know what to tell you.

I DO appreciate yours and all others time, who have or will, help me with this question. I'm NOT trying to be rude. This is LITERALLY a life or death situation! Any and all info anyone can give me would be GREATLY appreciated!

From the manual

https://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/0/MA659/en_US/Apple_LED_Cinema_Display.pd f

- Adjusting the Color and Brightness You can use your Apple Keyboard to increase ( ) or decrease ( ) the brightness of your display.

- You can also use System Preferences to adjust the resolution, brightness, and color settings. To adjust the resolution, the number of colors, or the brightness of your display:

1 Choose Apple () > System Preferences, and then click Displays.

2 Click the Display tab.

3 Choose a resolution or color setting, or drag the Brightness slider to adjust the brightness.

- To change the display profile or calibrate your display:

1 Click the Color tab in Displays preferences.

2 Choose a display profile, or click Calibrate to open the Display Calibrator Assistant. For more information about calibrating your display, choose Help > Mac Help in the menu bar, and search for “calibrate

Thus try what I bolded above

You did not ask a stupid question but you did not in your initial post provide enough information for us to help you. Now that you provided the information you were quickly responded to by lllaass with the procedure to solve your issue. If you called your mechanic, plumber, TV repairman etc. and asked how to do something the first question they would ask is what model/year etc. is the equipment.

Illaass response should do the trick. I could not find that quickly on my own. I will follow the steps she outlined with my MacBook Pro (the KEY to the ENTIRE matter) Thus, the monitor was actually irrelevant: I have NO way of doing ANYTHING on it...it is SIMPLY a monitor. EVERYTHING is controlled by the MacBook Pro I am using with it for ALL input. Which is why I did NOT go into detail about it...especially since I did NOT buy it or know the history of it.

Anyway, I VERY MUCH appreciate your valuable time. Thanks again!

I did try that when the keyboard did not work. But in my haste, I MISSED the "drag the Brightness slider to adjust the brightness" option. I just tried that and unfortunately it did NOT work either. I don't know what else I could do? Those are the ONLY 2 options that I know of. Everything else works fine...it's weird.

Regardless, thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to help me!

I REALLY appreciate it!
