Google secure connection failed

I am running OS X 10.9.5. For some reason I cannot connect to google.com. I get a Secure Connection Failed error. I get this with both Safari v7.1.8 and Firefox v40.0.3. Strange that I can connect to news.google.com which I guess does not use a secure connection.

Can anyone offer any assistance

thanks

Same here. Happen today all of a sudden google wouldn't load anymore. Same with You Tube.

I am also using Mavericks 10.9.5

My iPad still works with G+ app but not google.

I tried DNS cache clear , that was recommended. Which did nothing.

I cleared cookies and browser history.

I installed lasted update hoping that would fix it , nothing.

I did check website , "down right now" and other mac users are having this issue.

HELP !!!

I'm having the same problem as of today. "Glad" to see I'm not the only one suddenly having this problem.

Other devices on my local home network (another Mac laptop; iPhone; etc) are able to connect securely to Google and YouTube just fine.

If I reboot from my other partition (Yosemite), it also works fine.

The only problem is when I'm booted in Mavericks. (10.9.5)

It affects all browsers. FireFox has the same problem; Chrome won't load anything at all.

Tried unplugging from Ethernet and going WiFi only - no difference.

Looked at my \private\etc\hosts file - nothing unusual there, it's fine.

Turned off Little Snitch completely - no difference.

Turned off all Safari extensions - no difference (didn't expect any, since other browsers have the same problem)

Restarted my Airport Extreme - no difference.

One thing I haven't tried yet; booting from a cloned backup I made of my Mavericks partition yesterday, to see whether it'll still work.

Interested to see, as time goes on today, if (a) the problem resolves itself, (b) anyone else here has any insight into this. Very, very strange.

I've been having this issue as well.

Curiously though, my Gmail is still working, albeit poorly (emails aren't coming in as fast, and the yellow "something's not right" message isn't going away).

Another strange thing happened just moments ago: I regained access to various Google sites (except YouTube). This only lasted about a minute or two before returning to the "connection failed" screen.

This is purely speculation as I am in no way a computer expert, but it seems to me that all we can do is wait for Apple (or whoever) to resolve the issue.
