Has anyone heard of Applecare outreach?

I have posted a question on this forum and a few days later received an email and phone call from someone from the Applecare Outreach. They want to know more about my issue and install some app to log infor from my phone to help the developers. I'm all for helping them make the product better, but I also worry about the type info they will be getting. Is this a scam?

AppleCare Outreach is genuine. Occasionally Apple will contact posters here, if the posted issue is a problem, that Apple wants to investigate and they need samples to track down a bug. You will receive a free support by Apple this way.

if the email address of the person who contacted you is an @apple.com address, it will be a genuine request by Apple.

but I also worry about the type info they will be getting.

Ask them, what they will be logging. That will depend on the issue they are investigating.
