Q: Webdav Sharing doesn't work after Server 5 update

Since I updated my Yosemite server to Server 5.0.3 and 5.0.4, Webdav sharing doesn't work.

The most significant information I get is this in /Library/Logs/PasswordService/ApplePasswordServer.Error.log

'algorithm' must be 'md5' or 'md5-sess'

Anybody has a solution for this?

Mac Mini Server (Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10)

The Mac OS X Server setting (with IOS checked in the File Sharing) doesn't seem to allow connections, FWIW...

No, it doesn't seem to make any difference. Mind you, I'm not sure what the 'iOS' check box actually does; does anyone have any idea?

I tested this issue with the latest Server 5.0 beta (5.0.10) and it doesn't work in that either.

Basically, in IOS 9 you can add an OS X Server account. Whatever share points are enabled for IOS in File Sharing  one that server will then show up in the file locations section under OS X Server in documents based apps. (based on permissions)

This can also be defined in Profile Manager, but oddly it requires the username be defined in the configuration-- I'm not sure why it won't setup the server and just prompt the user to enter credentials...

Besides the KB that Drizzt posted I additionally had to edit this file:

    /Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/httpd_webdavsharing.conf

Other than that, DAV works for me as well now.

Server 5.0.15 came out and was supposed to fix web sharing.  I found it un-did the settings changes, but then failed to work again for webdav connections.  I re-fixed it.

I'm still not able to connect a Mac OS X Server account... invalid username and password.

    Restore /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/libexec/apache2/mod_auth_diges t_apple.so from a 4.1.x installation, run :

    webappctl stop com.apple.webapp.ACSServer
    webappctl start com.apple.webapp.ACSServer

Than stop and start filesharing from Server.app, both server accounts and webdav sharing will work

Thank you Drizzt! This has fixed it for me. How ever did you figure out this 'fix'? Have you made Apple aware of this? I have an open bug on this issue so I will update it with this info. Thanks again!

I read the logs and noticed the auth plugin in it

    No, I haven't contacted Apple.

    Hello everyone,

I don't have any previous 4.1 Server.app setup, but I do have the same problem as you. Except one difference (you can check the post with a screenshot on the second page of this thread for a detailed explanation of this difference : Should I have external IP in the DNS page ? - basically, it can work perfectly if I modify the hostname of the server, DNS server, OD server, but it doesn't and I get the same as you do if I set up everything as I would like to).

So, how can I get a this 4.1 version of the file ? Or what are the differences between those two files ?

    Hey,

I could find a 4.1.5 version of this file and it works like a charm now... Thanks Drizzt !

Sorry but I'm not good enough to understand what to do?

Can you explain how I can do that?

    Thanks

    Ok got it!

But in my case it did not work with the second file modified? The 1 in place of the 0.

It work with only the first file modified.

    Thanks!

    Hi Team

Have been following this thread and hoping that there may have been a further Server update after 5.0.15 from Apple to solve the Mac OS X Server account issue but no joy as yet.

DAV working beautifully after advice from this thread but not OSX Server account....

I am struggling to get a previous 4.1 Server app (I upgraded from Mountain lion server direct to OSX Server 5) and would be grateful for a pointer in the right direction to either locate this previous version or even the file /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/libexec/apache2/mod_auth_diges t_apple.so from a 4.1.x installation that Drizzt suggested earlier in the thread.

    Many thanks

Strange? I didn't had any trouble with server account since updating to server 5?

Lastouille - many thanks for your advice and pointer in the right direction....

Franco - Not sure why Server 5 was not working but followed Drizzt's advice and OSX Server accounts now working well!

    Drizzt - Genius!

Many thanks all for your support!
