Q: Why isn't my microphone working?

For a few weeks when someone calls me they can't hear me or it's very faint. I tried cleaning out the mic. I went to Voice Memos to see if it got any better but when I recorded myself it would be very low then fade out. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my phone?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.0.1
