Sep 25, 2015 4:58 PM in response to M from Las Crucesby Templeton Peck,As already suggested..post your question on the MS Mac forums as it's their software you're having issues with. These forums are for troubleshooting Apple products.

Oct 23, 2015 3:56 PM in response to Templeton Peckby SaxDaddy,If any of you have ever used the Microsoft Answers site, you'd realize the name is an oxymoron. I get better responses asking my ChiaPet®...
It's unfortunate one can't get a little help for any OS X product here. Perhaps the M from Las Cruces should check http://apple.stackexchange.com/ since there's less bias towards non-Apple products there?

Dec 19, 2015 4:43 PM in response to M from Las Crucesby lkpolovchik,This is only my conclusion and I am not a professional. Your login password is your keychain password. When you download Office 365 for Mac you are asked to type in your computer password and at some point Office asks permission to access your keychain. If you check your keychain you will see a rather long set of numbers and letters which is your Microsoft Office key. You will get those two messages each time office updates: first you are asked for your computer password then you are asked for access to your keychain. I watched a few Office 2016 tutorial on You Tube and I saw the same exact messages particularly when Excel is opened.

I joined the subscription program for MS Office 2016. The application has a nicer interface. However, the applications keep sending a dialog requesting access to the confidential information stored in my Microsoft Identity in my keychain. Not good. Any one else have the same problem, and how is this solved?
Not sure why you think that is not good or that there is anything to be solved. That is the type of thing keychain is designed to be used for. As indicated by the previous poster, if you give it access it will use the information to verify your subscription and you won't (or at least I don't and you shouldn't) be asked for it each time you start the application.

Dec 20, 2015 11:40 AM in response to M from Las Crucesby JtheK,I'm chiming in to agree with the 2 previous posts. It's not a security hazard, just a way to automatically sign you into Office 365, which has to be done by your computer on a monthly basis for the software to continue working.
