distorted text field in messages app since ios9

Same problem on my 5c, since updating to IOS9 searched everywhere for answers but can not find any, i am fed up with not being able to send text messages, don't reimburse any money on my contract, rip off sick of apple, soon as my contract is up i think i will be off.

I have the same issue on an iPhone 5. A device reset makes it go away temporarily but then it returns. I'm finding ios9 very glitchy throughout (screens freezing, apps crashing, long delays to refresh etc) but this problem is a real pain.

I have same problem. Just upgraded to ios 9.2 and expected this to fix it but no such luck. Come on Apple - this is a really annoying software fault that must be affecting loads of users and needs to be given some priority.

I have the same problem on my iphone 6plus running ios9.2, and no other apps are running. Sending text messages is impossible. This is ridiculous...I am ready to switch to Android. Whatever happened to customer support???

A significant number of people are having that problem since iOS 9. One solution (at least a temporary one) is to quit Messages and then double-click the Home button to open the app switcher. In the app switcher find the Messages app and slide it up to remove it. Then close app switcher by clicking the Home button. That should solve the problem -- for a while at least. Another solution that is working for some is to go to Settings > Messages and toggle either the Show Subject Field or Character Count setting.

I found this "solution" a while ago but it (and all of the others suggested so far) does not solve the problem for long.

The fault clearly lies somewhere in IOS 9 and I am very surprised it has not yet been fixed. This is not rocket science for a company like Apple and it must be affecting a huge number of their customers. It would at least be useful for someone at Apple to inform this forum that the cause of the problem is being investigated and what the likely schedule will be for a solution.

I have this issue too after upgrading to iOS 9.0.2. Very annoying.

Thank you! I've had the same issue on my iPhone 6 since I updated to ios9 and ios9.1 didn't help either. The only way I could get it to go away was to reboot. This is much faster!!! Thank you...

I Have the same issue on my iPhone 6 and my husband on his iPhone 6Plus!! This is ridiculous that Apple can't send out a patch and fix this issue!!! Like mention by so many, this is affecting so many and no word from Apple!! 😠
